I own a 13 year old minature poodle. Over the past year he has had several benign polyphs removed from his bladder. Since the latest surgery in March, 2000 he has been taking 1/4 tablet cytotec twice a day and 0.5 ml of piroxicam every other day. The first ultra sound he had approximately one month after the surgery was clear. He had another ultrasound in October, 2000 and the polyphs showed up again in the same place they had before. He has had the frequent urination problem again and he has been taking baytril twice a day. The baytril had previously elininated the system last go around but this time it has done very lilttle. Other than the symptoms of frequent urination, he is still fairly active. I walk him several times a week and he has been on a diet of Science Diet C/D and /or W/D. He has however lost 2 or 3 pounds, so he has no fat reserve whatsoever.
I am looking for some input and help concerning medicine for eliminating the polyphs (other than surgery again) and how to prevent future recurrences. This dog is a member of the family, and we want to keep him around as long as possible.
Thank you
