I get the same thing and my doctor says that it is a staff infection that comes from bacteria getting stuck in there and causes an infection. My fever gets very high and I actually had back spasms the last time. When this happens I go to the ER and my doctor admits me to the hospital and I am started on IV antibiotics and given morphine for the pain immediately. I stay in the hospital for about 2 days and then I go home and get IV therapy at home. I then go on oral antibiotics for 3 months. I hope this helps.
